Shoppers Surprised By This Superstar Mom's Holiday Gifts

Santa made an appearance at a superstore in Florida recently, but it wasn't who you'd expect. In fact, shoppers were taken aback when they saw who had arrived to help make their holiday a bit brighter and to spread some cheer.
Country music superstar Tim McGraw's mom, Betty Trimble, went on a secret mission for McGraw and his country music superstar wife Faith Hill. Shoppers at a Walmart near Jacksonville, Florida, were in for quite the shock when the country star's mom showed up.
Betty's job was to sneak up behind shoppers and either pay off their Christmas layaway balance or hand out cash in cards signed by Tim and Faith to random customers. Her goal was to pay off $5,000 worth of layaway items. All of the generosity was on behalf of the country music husband and wife duo.
Shopper Jessica Lumpkin was simply standing in line waiting to pick up a package. Since she didn't have anything on layaway, she was given cash and a signed card. Jessica posted on Facebook that she had never had anything like that happen to her before. She was floored.
Customer Kayla Jackson was waiting her turn to pay off her layaway balance for her two kids when Betty surprised her. Kayla told WJXT-TV that she confused at first. Then when the weight of what happened hit her, she was shocked and elated.
"I couldn't believe it. I didn't know what was going on. I was so confused. I was like, 'Is this really happening?' And they looked at me and said, 'She just paid your bill.' So it took me a minute to actually figure out what was actually going on, and who it was, and grasp that. I hugged her twice. Yeah, it was really a blessing. It really was."
Even Walmart employee Kathy Teegardin Thigpen posted on Facebook how exciting it was to see everyone's responses when they realized what Santa Betty was up to.
"Praise the Lord for people like this lady. She and her son and daughter-in-law will make a lot of families happy. Thank you for all you have done Mrs. Betty Trimble, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. You are definitely a Godsend to our Macclenny Walmart."

Tim and Faith are no strangers to surprising people with their generosity and giving back to others. Tim teamed up with Operation Homefront last year to give 36 mortgage-free homes to military veterans. Since 2012, Tim and Operation Homefront have helped more than 100 military families secure stable housing.
