Mom Gives Birth To Twin Boys With A Rare Difference
Marilyn Caylor 1/5/2017
Although we're always hearing about multiple-birth babies in the news, it's actually extremely rare for a mother to have more than one baby at a time. Unlike most other mammals, we generally don't have a "litter" of kids. While obstetricians and hospital staff usually know what to expect when twins are about to be born, they aren't immune to being surprised when things don't go by the book.
When an Arizona couple was told to buy two of everything after the first ultrasound pictures were taken, they were excited to add a couple of boys to their family. Months later, Holly and Brandon Shay were preparing for the birth of their twin boys when a rarity took place.
"As it was happening...we kind of had a little bit of foreshadowing that this could happen - and it did!"
It might seem like the shenanigans that went down in the labor ward were planned ahead of time, but everyone involved will attest against that fact. It just happened that way because that's how God saw fit to have it happen!
Although it's not uncommon for a mother to schedule a specific date to have a C-section performed, Holly Shay strictly adhered to nature's timetable. When she went into a natural labor on New Year's Eve, she and her husband knew it was going to be a very interesting way to celebrate 2017.
Little did this couple know how right they would actually be! Even before they were born, the boys decided to pull the ultimate prank on their new parents. Their first son, Sawyer Matthew, was born on December 31, 2016 at precisely 11:50 PM. However, Everett Jackson decided to have the last laugh, and didn't pop out into the world until January 1, 2017 at 12:01 AM!
Did these two little tykes plan this cute stunt ahead of time while "kicking" back in the womb? How did they decide who would be first in line? Well, I think we all know who won that thumb wrestling match - he got first dibs on greeting Mom and Dad! If this is the kind of fun stuff these boys tend to plot in secret, then Holly and Brandon are certainly in for multiplied double trouble when the "terrible two's" hit!
However, proud dad Brandon doesn't seem to mind, and he happily exclaimed:
"They're gonna be amazing. They've already left their mark on this world."
Though millions of people around the world celebrate the coming New Year on December 31st, not many have parties two days in a row. However, this family will be throwing back-to-back birthday parties from now on. What a great way to celebrate good times - with family!

Twins are known to be super close and share just about everything, even their most intimate thoughts. Although these twins' claim to fame is being separated by different years, they'll probably always remain as close as they were in mom's womb.
