Family Dog Credited With The Rescue Of A Lifetime

Alexander Brockbank is a rambunctious little boy with tons of energy - and outdoor adventuring with the loving family dog Leala is his favorite pastime.
Unfortunately, one day Alexander wandered a bit too close to the small pond by the dam near his family's house, and things took a dark turn....
Wherever Alexander goes, Leala follows - they really are two peas in a pod. This held especially true the day the Brockbanks' lives were turned upside down.
During his playtime, little Alexander fell face-down in the water by the dam. The rest of family just assumed he was off romping in the distance like most afternoons, but Leala knew better!
The elderly pup discovered her human buddy barely breathing, face-down in the pond and began to bark incessantly. When that didn't gain enough attention, Leala ran up to the house and forced Alexander's father, David, to follow her down to the bank.
When David saw his son, he was petrified - Alexander had a weak pulse and wasn't breathing anymore. David screamed for his wife, Lisa, and together they called for an ambulance, began 27 agonizing minutes of CPR and prayed harder than they ever had before in their lives.
Alexander was immediately airlifted to the hospital where he was was placed on life support in an attempt to bring him back from the brink of death. Doctors warned Lisa and David that their son may not make it through the night - and if he did, there was a large chance that he would have major brain damage.
It was their worst nightmare....
Thankfully, just 36 hours after he was placed on life support, Alexander was breathing on his own and the tubes were removed.
Lisa shared just how excited and thankful she was for the well-wishes and prayers on her Facebook page.
"Thanks for everyone's positive thoughts and prayers, we have an army behind us. Last but not least we need to thank our precious dog Leala, she went in the dam and then found David to alert him.
Without her we wouldn't have our little boy with us today. Fillets forever, sweetheart."
In addition to his body regaining strength, Alexander's mind was still as sharp as a tack - there wasn't a touch of brain damage!
Thanks to Leala's swift actions, Alexander has many happy years left with his family! This is even more proof that dogs truly are man's (or boy's) best friend!
