Time sure has flown by since Zach and Tori Roloff gave birth to their firstborn. Baby Jackson is officially one-month-old. He's absolutely adorable and "growing like a champ."
Zach, who starred in Little People, Big World, has achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism. The couple knew that their son had a chance of being born with dwarfism, too.
Males grow to an average height of four feet, four inches and enjoy a normal lifespan. However, the babies experience breathing problems and delays in muscle development.
But Zach and Tori simply wanted a sweet bundle of joy to cuddle and hold, regardless of how tall he'd end up being. They wanted to become what they playfully refer to as "zandtpartyofthree."
Jackson's mom shared:
"We knew our chances of having a dwarf, but it didn't matter. We just knew we wanted to be parents, however God wanted it to happen."
Tori posted some fun tidbits about her baby boy on Instagram. Fans and followers were excited to learn about their sweet little guy.
"Loves watching soccer with daddy. Starting to find his voice."
Blessedly, Baby Jackson sleeps for five to six hours at a time in the overnight. However, Tori confessed that he hates having his diaper changed and despises bathtime.
"Love you so much Baby J!"
Zach has shared on social media before that while his son's inherited genetic condition may make life tougher for him in some aspects, he and Tori will strongly support their son without coddling him. They also will not focus on his dwarfism.
"I want people to know that he's just like his dad: being a dwarf is just part of the whole package of who he is. You have to encourage a dwarf child a little more because it will take them five steps to do what others can do in two. But I knew, dwarf or not, I was going to parent my child with the mentality that not everyone gets a trophy. You have to earn it."
Tori, who is a kindergarten teacher and loves children, couldn't wait to start a family with Zach, even with the potential for medical issues looming.
Today, the new parents are thrilled to dote upon their baby and support him through any medical hurdles he may encounter. They are so thrilled and blessed to be parents.
