Single Mom Misses Class For Baby, Internet Taken Aback By Professors Daring Reaction

Parenting is undoubtedly a full-time job. Moms and dads must be alert, selfless, focused, caring, patient, and prepared - no matter the time of day (or night), 365 days a year. There is no clocking out, there is no time off, and there is no paid vacation. Raising children, although incredibly rewarding, is certainly not for the faint of heart.
Being a mom to little ones can of course be difficult and overwhelming some days. However, being a single mom to an infant while also attending school - can often feel just plain impossible.
Morgan King is a single mom trying to balance her college education with taking care of her baby girl.
This University of Tennessee student not only works to focus on her studies while caring for her infant daughter, she is also struggling with the loss of her own mother who passed away from breast cancer last year.
Needless to say, this young woman's journey has not been easy, or predictable.
Although most days this super-mom has things "figured out," there are times when life's inevitable challenges arise...
One day in mid-June when Morgan was unable to find childcare, she emailed her professor in order to excuse herself from class. Morgan sent a message to Sally Hunter, her teacher from the school's Child and Family Studies Department, to explain the reasoning behind her absence.
The response she received was so unexpected and sincere that Morgan was immediately brought to tears. In fact, this young mom was so moved by the professor's email, she felt compelled to post the message on her Twitter page.
Here are some of the highlights from her letter:
We wondered where you were this morning. I am so sorry to hear that childcare issues are what caused you to miss class today.
In the future, if you are having trouble finding someone to watch Korbyn, please feel free to just BRING HER with you to class. I would be absolutely delighted to hold her while I teach, so that you can still pay attention to the class and take notes. I work for the Department of CHILD and FAMILY Studies--so how terrible would it be, if was unwilling to have your child visit our class? I'm very serious with this offer--just bring Korbyn with you!
Regarding Quiz 5 today, it can just be one of the two quizzes you can drop. No worries. And your absence from today's class is considered "excused."
Let me know if there are other ways I could be supporting you!
What the world needs now is more love and understanding. Professor Hunter's empathetic response not only made a huge impact on Morgan, but is causing ripples as it makes its way around the world!
A few of the Twitter comments include:
"It's people like this that encourage young single mothers to go back to school and be successful and it needs to be recognized"
"Morgan, thank you for showing us challenges college students face. Prof Hunter, thanks for being a part of the solution"
"Wow! That's a special person who really understands her students."
This loving professor's offer was genuine, as she was truly disappointed when Morgan showed up to the following class without her daughter. Morgan shared an update following her post on Twitter:
"I walked into class a couple minutes late this morning & my professor said "awe dang, I thought you were gonna bring Korbyn today."
One simple act of human kindness, touching hearts all over the globe!
Let this heart-warming story of human kindness be an example to all of us, and inspire others to always work to pay the love forward!
